MEET EITAN

Eitan was 22 when he came home from Gaza. He had fought on Israel’s northern border and inside the Strip, lost close friends, and carried back wounds no one could see.

When he asked the state to recognize his PTSD, he was met with a bureaucracy that made him prove his own suffering. “I felt like I was being tortured,” he says.

Then a free Jerusalem Institute of Justice attorney took his case, stood beside him through every hearing, and won him the recognition he deserved. Today, Eitan can finally focus on healing. More than 22,000 soldiers have come home wounded since October 7.

The Jerusalem Institute of Justice (JIJ) leads the charge.

JIJ is already representing hundreds of wounded soldiers and victims of terror and war, at no cost to them, fighting to secure their rights and the benefits they deserve. We stand with them at every stage, advocating in administrative hearings before the Ministry of Defense, filing appeals when needed, and pursuing justice all the way to the Israeli Supreme Court.

Thousands more are waiting for help.

Every delay means untreated trauma, financial collapse, prolonged uncertainty, and a heightened risk of mental health crisis, including suicide and suicide attempts. Early legal intervention is not optional. It is time-critical and life-protective.

Our only goal? To win their claims, and minimize the indignity of returning to hearings over and over again to prove the extent of their injuries.

WHAT WE DO

JIJ is the only Israeli organization that offers high-quality legal advocacy for soldiers completely free of charge. In all other cases, private lawyers take a percentage of a soldier’s financial benefits as their fee. We don’t take any compensation. They need every shekel for their recovery, rehabilitation, their families, and their future.
