MEET ROY

For 12 straight hours on October 7, 2023, First Sergeant Roy fought terrorists who had infiltrated the Zikim military base, three miles north of the Gaza Strip border. He watched friends die in front of him and kept fighting. Late that night, when he was finally ordered to evacuate, he ran over a mile under live fire, dodging bullets the entire way.

When that battle ended, the real struggle began.

The horrors of the battlefield never left him. Roy developed post-traumatic stress injury (PTSI) and desperately needed treatment to rebuild his life. But when he turned to Israel’s Ministry of Defense for recognition and support, he ran into a wall of bureaucracy that nearly broke him.

JIJ was there to help. We were able to get Roy the assistance he needed, free of charge thanks to our donors. Now we need your help to do the same for others.

JIJ is already representing hundreds of wounded soldiers and victims of terror and war, at no cost to them, fighting to secure their rights and the benefits they deserve. We stand with them at every stage, advocating in administrative hearings before the Ministry of Defense, filing appeals when needed, and pursuing justice all the way to the Israeli Supreme Court.

Thousands more are waiting for help.

Every delay means untreated trauma, financial collapse, prolonged uncertainty, and a heightened risk of mental health crisis, including suicide and suicide attempts. Early legal intervention is not optional. It is time-critical and life-protective.

Our only goal? To win their claims, and minimize the indignity of returning to hearings over and over again to prove the extent of their injuries.

WHAT WE DO

JIJ is the only Israeli organization that offers high-quality legal advocacy for soldiers completely free of charge. In all other cases, private lawyers take a percentage of a soldier’s financial benefits as their fee. We don’t take any compensation. They need every shekel for their recovery, rehabilitation, their families, and their future.
