We believe that a state that is both Jewish and democratic is not contradictory but an attainable reality, Israel has the power to reinforce tolerance, truth, ethics, and morality by infusing its democratic values throughout the justice system which in turn strengthens the fiber of the nations. JIJ's work safeguards Israel's society and its legitimate standing among the nation

At the grassroots level, we provide free legal aid to terror victims, survivors of human trafficking and prostitution, wounded IDF soldiers and security personnel, and communities facing discrimination. Through this work, we defend rights, protect dignity, and help individuals integrate into Israeli society. We also extend humanitarian and legal support to Holocaust survivors and representation for Lone Soldiers.

This individual-level advocacy feeds into systemic change. JIJ has secured legislative reforms to combat human trafficking, advanced protections for vulnerable populations, and successfully argued precedent-setting petitions before Israel’s Supreme Court. Each case contributes to building stronger legal safeguards and reinforcing the rule of law in Israel.

At the international level, our research and legal submissions are presented before the United Nations, the International Criminal Court, European Parliaments, and leading academic institutions. These platforms allow us to elevate individual stories into broader principles of justice, influencing both policy and international human rights discourse.

Across this spectrum—from one client at a time, to precedents in national courts, to influence on global policy—JIJ’s work demonstrates how principled, professional legal action can bring about lasting impact. To date, our advocacy and legal representation have touched the lives of more than ten million people, showing that determined legal work can transform both societies and international norms.
