Dear Mr. Khan,
I, the undersigned, am writing to urge you to withdraw your request for arrest warrants for Israeli leaders, and to strengthen your case against Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s leadership.
Your office’s case against Israeli leaders rests primarily on a so-called “policy of starvation,” which has been discredited by the recent Famine Review Committee’s May 2024 report. According to this and other recent reports, the Israeli military has facilitated the entry of 8 billion pounds of food into the Gaza Strip since October 7th. That’s equivalent to 4,000 pounds of food per person, and does not include Gaza’s own food supplies, from local farms, chicken coops, and fishing industry.
It is not too late to rectify this situation. I urge you to drop the charges against Israel and focus on those responsible for the terrorism that started this devastating conflict on October 7th. Specifically, I request that you investigate and seek arrest warrants for:
- Khaled Mashaal (Chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau)
- Ghazi Hamad (Senior Hamas Official)
- Fathi Hamad (Interior Minister of Hamas)
- Ziyad al-Nakhalah (Secretary General of Palestinian Islamic Jihad)
- Khaled al-Batsh (Gaza Leader of Palestinian Islamic Jihad)
These leaders are responsible for ongoing crimes, including the continued holding of 120 Israeli hostages, subjecting them to forced labor, rape, torture, and other crimes against humanity. They have launched over 10,000 rockets indiscriminately at Israeli civilian targets and humanitarian workers, militarized hospitals, schools, and other civilian infrastructure, looted aid trucks, and executed Gazan civilians who dared to challenge their corrupt and criminal practices.
I urge you to pursue new arrest warrants and ensure accountability for the heinous crimes they have committed.
