  • From Media Consumer to Content Creator | Thursday 26/12/2024

My most rewarding experience at JIJ was producing and recording a series of 15-minute lectures on the central challenges facing Israel (Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, and lawfare). Before coming to JIJ, I considered myself an informed consumer of media about Israel. Creating content, however, is much harder than consuming it. As I went about producing material of my own, I realized how little I had previously known about the threats facing Israel and the realities of the Middle East.  How did I go about overcoming this knowledge deficit to produce original content for viewers in Israel and the Diaspora? By reading, by debating, and by writing.

  • STOP FUNDING HAMAS THROUGH UNRWA! | Saturday 10/02/2024

You understand the problem now. You see that we can’t waste this moment. Now is the time to radically restructure UNRWA to stop the ongoing radicalization of Palestinian society.

Why? Because Palestinians deserve better than UNRWA. They deserve food, medicine, and shelter delivered by transparent organizations that are not routinely infiltrated by terrorists. They deserve to receive humanitarian aid and not see most of it stolen by Hamas. They deserve schools that promote coexistence with Jews and other minorities in the Middle East.

Help us meet this moment. Sign our petition to STOP FUNDING UNRWA until and unless the agency is radically reformed and restructured.

  • Letter to the UN Special Rapporteur on Minority Issues | Wednesday 22/11/2023

We wish to express JIJ's profound concern regarding the perilous situation of Christian Palestinians in northern Gaza. We urgently request your intervention to safeguard the rights and well-being of innocent individuals belonging to this minority group by facilitating their immediate evacuation to a safe haven. Enclosed, please find a letter wherein we respectfully and firmly request the Special Rapporteur on minority issues, under your mandate, to take immediate and decisive action. Collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross is crucial for the prompt evacuation of the 1,000 Christian Palestinians sheltered in Gaza City to a secure location. It is imperative to provide them with essential resources for survival, including access to food, clean water, and medical care.

  • Biased Narratives on Red Cross Social Media | Wednesday 15/11/2023

The Jerusalem Institute of Justice leads a coalition of organizations urging the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)  Ms. Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, to turn her attention to the a pressing issue concerning the use of social media by the ICRC in the context of the ongoing Hamas-Israel conflict. The central concern at hand revolves around the balance and neutrality of the content disseminated through ICRC's social media channels. As an independent and neutral organization dedicated to upholding humanitarian protection for conflict victims and the principles of international humanitarian law (IHL), it is imperative that ICRC's social media communications maintain a high standard of neutrality, balance, and accuracy in portraying conflicts. Of particular concern is the apparent disproportion in the content's focus.

  • Where is the UN special rapporteur on Torture’s involvement in the protection of Israeli civilians? | Tuesday 07/11/2023

Forensic examinations of the victims from October 7th have revealed numerous acts of torture committed by Hamas terrorists, including burning people alive, decapitations, mutilations inflicted on children and the elderly. Other atrocities by Hamas include cutting open a pregnant woman's stomach and pulling out her baby, tying up babies, and cutting off the arm of a 10-year-old girl, who tragically succumbed to severe blood loss. These actions represent a clear violation of Article 2 of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (hereinafter referred to as “the Convention”).

  • LETTER TO THE EUROPEAN UNION – STOP FUNDING HAMAS | Thursday 26/10/2023

“Hamas has mastered the graft of converting humanitarian aid into material support for terrorism,” said Uri Morad, Director of International Law & Public Diplomacy for the Jerusalem Institute of Justice (JIJ). “Hamas taxes the shipments at the border, confiscates a portion to sell for profit on the black market, flagrantly steals humanitarian assets like fuel and food and even digs up humanitarian projects like water and sewage pipes to make rockets.”

  • Archived: Live Updates on The Israel-Hamas War | Friday 13/10/2023

Live updates on the ongoing crisis in Israel. The Jerusalem Institute of Justice is heartbroken by the unprovoked attacks on the people of Israel. Thousands of rockets have bombarded cities as Hamas terrorists seek to murder Jews and destroy Israel. Hamas fighters rampaged through southern Israel. They kidnapped babies, children, and grandmothers, raped countless women, beheaded and tortured captives, and desecrated corpses, leaving nothing but death and destruction in their wake. This is the worst time in Jewish history since the Holocaust.
