Pramila Patten, a senior UN official, came to Israel a month ago with a mandate to gather information on claims that Hamas terrorists had committed rape and other acts of sexual violence against Israeli women and men on October 7th. Her trip came after months of conspicuous silence on the matter from UN Women, and appalling statements from other UN officials that amounted to gaslighting and atrocity denial.
JIJ’s team of human rights lawyers and researchers met with Patten's team on February 8th. We presented detailed testimony and gruesome photographs taken by first responders who had handled the bodies of the October 7th victims.

Forensic examinations of the victims from October 7th have revealed numerous acts of
torture committed by Hamas terrorists, including burning people alive, decapitations,
mutilations inflicted on children and the elderly. Other atrocities by Hamas include cutting
open a pregnant woman's stomach and pulling out her baby, tying up babies, and cutting off
the arm of a 10-year-old girl, who tragically succumbed to severe blood loss. These actions
represent a clear violation of Article 2 of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel,
Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (hereinafter referred to as “the
Convention”).

Justice (JIJ). “Hamas taxes the shipments at the border, confiscates a portion to sell for profit on the
black market, flagrantly steals humanitarian assets like fuel and food and even digs up humanitarian
projects like water and sewage pipes to make rockets.”

Live updates on the ongoing crisis in Israel. The Jerusalem Institute of Justice is heartbroken by the unprovoked attacks on the people of Israel. Thousands of rockets have bombarded cities as Hamas terrorists seek to murder Jews and destroy Israel. Hamas fighters rampaged through southern Israel. They kidnapped babies, children, and grandmothers, raped countless women, beheaded and tortured captives, and desecrated corpses, leaving nothing but death and destruction in their wake. This is the worst time in Jewish history since the Holocaust.

The Jerusalem Institute of Justice (JIJ) submitted a report to the Human Rights Committee of the UN regarding Palestinian adherence to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR). JIJ's report exposes inadequate law enforcement, incitement to violence, and acts of torture and inhumane treatment by the Palestinian government, directly contradicting Palestinian claims of compliance with international law.
